Safety First: Kia's New Additions Earn IIHS Top Safety Picks

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has revealed that they put two of Kia’s latest models through their rigorous safety testing process: the 2022 Kia Carnival, and the 2022 Kia Stinger

The IIHS is one of the (if not THE) most prominent organizations when it comes to motor vehicle safety, and is well-known for their comprehensive testing methods. Their thorough safety examinations include testing a vehicle’s “crashworthiness,” available safety features, and crash avoidance and mitigation, among other factors.

We’re pleased to pass along the good news that both the Carnival and the Stinger have taken home prestigious safety ratings from the IIHS, tying the Kia brand for the second-most IIHS awards in the industry!

2022 Kia Carnival

The all-new 2022 Kia Carnival has been awarded the Top Safety Pick badge from the IIHS, becoming the 10th Kia vehicle to earn a Top Safety Pick or higher award this year. Kia’s new multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) earned ratings of ‘good’ in all six IIHS crashworthiness evaluations, including the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraint tests.

Newly introduced to Kia’s increasingly cutting-edge 2021 lineup, the Carnival walks the line between a people-hauler and a stylish SUV. Featuring bold design, best-in-class cargo capacity, and more dynamic performance thanks to its powerful 3.5L V6 engine, the 2022 Kia Carnival sets the bar high for all MPVs to come.

So what safety specs impressed the testers at IIHS? Well, as it turns out, there are at least 12 good reasons the Kia Carnival has been selected as a Top Safety Pick. Each Carnival comes standard equipped with a suite of 12 Advanced Driver Assistance System features, including Forward Collision Avoidance-Assist, Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance-Assist, Parking Distance Warning-Reverse and High Beam Assist. So you can rest assured this family hauler will be keeping your family safe, sound, and especially snug while you hit the road.

2022 Kia Stinger

The 2022 Kia Stinger joins the 2021 Kia K5 as the second Kia vehicle to be awarded the IIHS’ Top Safety Pick Plus rating. Kia’s second-generation sports sedan earned ratings of ‘good’ in all six IIHS crashworthiness evaluations, but the ‘Plus’ comes from the Stinger’s standard LED headlights.

The latest Stinger model has been refreshed both inside and out for the 2021 model year, including a new 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, more horsepower for the twin-turbo V6, and intuitive interior upgrades, all packed into the Stinger’s signature bold body.

The Kia Stinger is notorious for its speed and performance, but don’t let that fool you - its safety features are second to none. Forward Collision Avoidance Assist and Drive Wise advanced driver assistance systems (now standard across all trim levels) are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the Stinger’s abundance of safety features. According to Sean Yoon, President and CEO of Kia North America, “this latest Top Safety Pick Plus rating from IIHS validates Kia’s relentless pursuit of improvement and advancement, and perfectly complement the Stinger’s highly regarded performance capabilities.”
