On Tuesday, March 16th, Kia Canada held a digital announcement to unveil the all-new 2022 Kia Stinger. While it will be hard to beat the previous model’s incredible winning streak including ‘Car of the Year’ honours from not one, but three different institutions, we have a feeling the second-generation Stinger is up to the challenge.
Kia’s latest luxury and sports sedan packs a punch under the hood, combining a powerful 3.3L twin turbo V6 engine with all-wheel drive, Brembo brakes, shift-by-wire technology, and electronic suspension control. And the fun doesn’t stop there! We’re diving deep into the Stinger’s most notable upgrades to the exterior, interior, and taking a look at what’s new under the hood.
Exterior
The 2022 Kia Stinger will maintain its bold appearance with a few key changes, specifically to the rear of the vehicle. This new model will sport rear combulamps with connected LED tail lights to give it a wider and more impressive stance. Kia’s innovative team of designers have also added a more aggressive diffuser with larger diameter quad exhaust tips to give it a bold and polished presence, along with a significantly louder and more distinctive bark.
The new Stinger will be available in seven colour options:
- New Ascot Green
- Snow White Pearl
- Ghost Grey
- Thunder Grey
- Aurora Black
- Atomic Blue
- California Red
Interior
If you’re a fan of the current Kia Stinger, we think you’re going to love the upgrades Kia's designers have made to the interior of the latest model.
The cluster housing has been given a stylish makeover using high gloss black and chrome red finishes, while the rearview mirror has gone frameless to provide maximum visibility. They’ve even gone ahead and increased both the size and capabilities of the fifth-generation navigation screen to bring you top of the line tech. Kia's design team have also introduced a dimpled aluminum console hairline and a newly applied mood lamp line to really emphasize its sleek style.
And if that wasn’t enough, the 2022 Kia Stinger will be the first model to offer their new GT Elite trim level. This trim includes your choice of napa leather (with a red colour option), or their newly available suede package, consisting of suede seat inserts with red stitching and seatbelts for the ultimate sporty interior.
Safety & Tech
Last but not least, let’s take a look at the lengthy list of safety features and tech specs that have been enhanced in the 2022 Stinger.
Every new Stinger will come fully equipped with our cutting edge advanced driver assistance systems, including:
- Advanced Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Junction Turning
- Safe Exit Warning
- Navigation-Based Advanced Smart Cruise Control
- Lane Following Assist
- Blind Spot Collision Avoidance
We’re also seeing some exciting advancements in the Stinger’s technology, like the ability to remotely control your vehicle’s heated seats and ventilation via UVO app, remote engine start via smart key, and available blind-spot view monitor.
Kia has even tweaked the tech under the hood to deliver improved drive power and outstanding handling with the available Mechanical Limited-Slip Differential system that optimizes control launching to keep you safe on low friction surfaces. For Islanders, this means you can enjoy the 2022 Kia Stinger all year round!
