2024 Kia Seltos Gets Major Upgrades, Including More Power

One of Canada's 10 most popular utility vehicles in 2022 will include a wide variety of major upgrades for the 2024 model year. Set to go on sale in the spring of 2023, the 2024 Kia Seltos will spread its turbocharged powertrain availability across two trim levels, supply more total horsepower via that 1.6-litre turbocharged engine, and provide more premium features across much of the lineup.

POWER

For the first time since the Seltos arrived in the spring of 2020, the best-selling Kia will be available in an X-Line model like the Sportage, Sorento, and Telluride. The rugged X-Line will adopt the 1.6T from the Seltos SX, except now the turbocharged engine generates 195 horsepower, 11% more than before. It's also linked now to an 8-speed automatic for much smoother power delivery. Expect significant off-the-line acceleration improvements.

The Seltos X-Line will wear a gunmetal grey grille and front and rear skid plates; there's also glossy black moldings for the body side and 18-inch black alloys. There are distinctive black roof rails for the X-Line, too.

TECHNOLOGY

Right from the get-go, a big part of the Seltos's success stemmed from the fact that, while bridging the gap between Soul and Sportage, the Seltos brought a decidedly more refined and upmarket flair to the subcompact crossover segment. Now it's time to double-down on the Seltos's clear advantages. The 2024 Seltos will be available with Kia's full panoramic display, combining a 10.25-inch LCD gauge cluster with the 10.25-inch multimedia display that's already wowed buyers of other Kias.

CONVENIENCE

You asked for it, Kia delivered it. The Seltos is now available with a power tailgate. There's also new memory settings for the driver's power seat, Kia's brilliant Digital Key 2 Touch entry system, and continued availability of head-up display, Bose audio, and wireless charging.

SAFETY

Standard advanced safety features in every 2024 Seltos include forward collision avoidance assist, lane keep assist, lane following assist, blind spot collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist, rear occupant alert, and safe exit assist.

It sounds like an awful lot of fancy terminology, but these are important components in the Seltos that decrease the likelihood of collisions while turning left at an interesection, decrease the likelihood of drifting into another lane, detect vehicles traveling in your blind spot, detect objects traveling perpendicular to you while reversing, warn you of important items you might forget in the rear seat, and provide warnings when exiting if vehicles are approaching from behind.

STYLE

Moreover, there's a new look. New headlights. New taillights. Updated front and rear bumpers. Vertical fog lights. New colours, too, including Valais Green and Pluton Blue. Even inside there are changes beyond the enormous screen, including a new centre console layout, new vents, and an available brown leather interior.

Somehow, Canada's best subcompact crossover just got better.
